The Leapfrog LeapPad is a system for a series of interactive talking books, games, videos and other various applications. You place these books in the system and then use the attached pen to touch the words displayed and the leappad speaks the word or can find definitions. If your concerned about your young child using a pen don't be, they can also just simply touch the screen with their fingers. The book apps build and remember your childs reading skills as they progress and are automatically adjusted from book to book.
The Leapfrog LeapPad also has a built in video recorder, microphone and camera. This allows your child to record 120 minutes of video and snap over 30,000 photos. This is a really nice feature because it empowers your young child do the things they see you doing with your smartphones and ipads.
If you already have the leapster explorer this LeapPad does work with leapster explorer games and apps. With over 100 books and games and videos to choose from you can continue to amuse and educate your child with the Leapfrog LeapPad for a long time.

The Art Studio allows the child to use shapes and brushes along with pencils and erasers to draw pictures. It really allows the child to be more creative.
The Story Studio is an app that allows the child to write and record their own little e-book they can share with friends and family via the internet. They can include art they have created and photos they have taken as well as tell their own story.
With PetPad your child will learn how to care for a pet and will learn how to teach him tricks. This differs slightly from the version that came with Leapster in that you can use the microphone to blow dry the pet after giving him a bath. This vitual pet can do tricks like pop balloons over a pond and will even follow you around as you do things.
